Ellen's San Francisco | April 15, 2025
Clean and Safe Streets, Constitutional Police, a Solutions Marketplace, Department Audits, and more
I had the opportunity to sit with mayoral candidate Ellen last month. I wanted to know Ellen vision for San Francisco so I asked,
"It's April 15, 2025, you’re four months in as mayor. What does San Francisco look like?"
This is what she said:
Summary
All the homeless will be housed.
The homeless are off the street and housed. The Federal Government is providing assistance for temporary housing. She is working with property owners who have vacant apartments to provide accommodations, and coordinating with other California cities to handle the influx of homeless (there currently half million homeless in California) that will be sent here by those that do not like they way Ellen is playing the game.
San Francisco can house maybe 10,000 homeless. The housing we offer cannot be permanent housing, but temporary with an agreement to get jobs and be self-sufficient. The current administration keeps the cycle going for continued public funding.
The Police are back in full force, and back to Constitution
Police will be trained to adhere to the Constitution. Currently they enforce codes and regulations.
Public Hearings and Teams to Fix Local Problems
A volunteer public hearings team is created to help identify and fix local challenges. Stipends are provided for the basics, but this cannot be wage work, because that creates a conflict of interest.
These hearings are public, recorded, so everybody can see all the challenges. People who have the problem are first in line to solve the problem. “My job is to give the power back to the people.”
Department Audits
Various Volunteer teams doing audits of each City department, following the money. Ellen says there are accounts in San Francisco that are not visible to the public, but if we trace where the money goes, we can find it and bring it back.
A Free Market of Contracts
First, the requirement that government employees must make payments to the unions is removed. Second, introduce a free market for projects. Contract costs for simple things are inflated beyond reason and become very expensive, like the $1.7 million toilet and Fancy Trash Cans.
Re-hire the People that were illegally fired for not taking injections
All the pending court cases are ended, because people who were fired have been offered their job back with full backpay. That’s the right thing to do, and the smart thing to do. It will be cheaper to do this than pay out all the lawsuits.
Minimize Car Break-Ins
Implement a crisis for car break-ins. Catch and not release car break-in thieves, they must do restitution; pay back for the damage they caused. All the car break ins may not be ended yet because they may be ramped up on purpose. Surveillance cameras are used to catch car thieves.
Train People to Defend Themselves
If someone tries to come do something bad to you, defend yourself with Second Amendment. People have the common law/common sense right to defend themselves and their property. The evil authorities only want to believe the law is not on your side when it actually is.
Solutions Marketplace
Teams of People helping to fix all the problems. Mayor can do a lot of things, but not all the things effectively. Ellen has many ideas, and many other people have many other ideas, we need to enable them. Collaboration from other Bay Area cities and California cities is what will help fix all of California problems.
Return Property Rights to Property Owners
A program is being created to teach property owners how to protect their property from, for example, being fined for having a vacant place. Restore rule of law in this area. Property owners (Not LLCs, not Big companies, not Blackrock, etc) should have access to free legal representation just like the tenants do.
I like what I heard.
She whispered, at the end, “We know the city has a lot of money… a lot,” and started talking about downsizing the government when her phone rang. Maybe we can pick up the conversation another time.
